Showing an early aptitude for making things and images and encouraged by the response to his work, Adam directed his education toward Art and Design after gaining a grade A at A Level Art. Attending West Sussex College of Art and Design in 1979, Adam gained its College Diploma in 1980. He then continued full-time education at North East London Polytechnic achieving a B.A. in Fine Art in 1983.
